FAQ’s

What is QCoast2100?

QCoast2100 is a state-wide program that helps Queensland councils plan and take action to manage these hazards through science-based, locally tailored projects.

What is funded by QCoast2100?

One, some or all stages of a Coastal Hazard Adaptation Strategy (CHAS) along with various implementation projects identified in a completed CHAS. View Funding Rounds page for more details.

Who is eligible to apply for funding?

Funding is available for Queensland’s 41 coastal local governments. Please visit the Eligible Councils for the complete list.

Is council required to match the approved funding amount?

No. However, councils are required to provide a cocontribution (cash only). The cocontribution value for your council can be obtained by contacting qcoast2100@lgaq.asn.au.

Is there any funding currently available?

Funding applications are now closed.

What type of support is available to assist councils in the development of grant funding applications?

Please contact the Program Manager at the first instance should you require any technical advice. The Program Manager may consult the Expert Panel to resolve any specific technical issue/clarification on your behalf.

What is the process for assessing grant funding applications?

The Program Manager, DETSI and a member of the Expert Panel have assessed all applications to provide recommendations to the Program Board.

How are councils using this program?

Each council develops a CHAS, then delivers on-the-ground projects like restoring dunes, building seawalls, or updating local planning policies.

What are coastal hazards?

Coastal hazards include coastal erosion, storm tides, and rising sea levels that can damage homes, roads, and natural areas along the coast.

How does this affect me?

If you live near the coast, these projects help protect your community, home, and environment from the impacts of climate change.

Can I get involved?

Yes! Many councils invite residents to provide feedback, attend information sessions, or join community working groups. Please check out your local government website for further details.

Who do I contact for more information about the Program?

The Program Manager, Emma Schofield, is available to address any queries, concerns or clarifications via email at qcoast2100@lgaq.asn.au or directly on 07 3000 2255.
