Minimum Standards & Guideline

The QCoast2100 Program Minimum Standards & Guideline were developed to provide a consistent, evidence-based framework to support Queensland’s coastal councils in developing high-quality Coastal Hazard Adaptation Strategies (CHAS). These standards help ensure that local adaptation planning aligns with best practice, integrates with broader planning systems, and delivers outcomes that are robust, transparent, and tailored to local conditions.

Developed in collaboration with technical experts, state agencies, and participating councils, this Guideline outlines the essential components and expectations for each phase of the CHAS process. It is designed to assist councils in effectively managing current and future coastal hazards—focussing on coastal erosion, storm tide inundation and sea level rise—through informed, strategic, and community-focused decision-making.
