KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION SHARING WEBINAR #4

Back

COUNCIL ONLY EVENT - On Friday the 24th of July 2020, the LGAQ hosted the fourth in a series of QCoast2100 Knowledge and Information Sharing Webinars. Designed to be an interactive experience for QCoast2100 Council Leads, it will provide an opportunity to discuss different issues and approaches in CHAS development for cross-council learning.

This webinar featured Pradesh Ramiah from City of Gold Coast where he discussed council's CHAS journey.

The Gold Coast CHAS is a tale split in two. Gold Coast is a rapidly developing city with a population of over 600,000. The city’s exposure to coastal hazards is very different in the North (low lying RAMSAR wetlands) compared to the South (established urban footprint). Our exposure is also very different for the open coast compared to our waterways. The CHAS has also been divided up separately regarding communication (internal technical working group compared to external stakeholders). Finally, the limited time and budget has brought into sharp focus what actions can be undertaken now and what needs to be completed in the implementation phase.

This session was attended by 16 council officers representing 13 councils. View presentation here.
